11/28/2023 0 Comments Doritos and dew it right![]() ![]() This promotion wasn't an entirely original thing. Not because "dudebro" or anything, (imagine using that phrase in the year of our lord, 2018) but because of the weirdly textured, stilted animation that doesn't even look like it uses proper Halo 4 assets for most of the thing. I really liked Halo 4, and I also really liked Game Fuel. Complete with gross and weird CG commercial. Halo 4 itself was partnering with Doritos and Mountain Dew to bring Double XP codes to the game, alongside the usually-once-a-year reintroduction of one of the only few good Mountain Dew flavors, Game Fuel. So, assuming everyone, particularly gamerz, don't just have complete shit taste, (I know, a long shot, considering the popularity of Razer products) the Mountain Dew/Doritos combo doesn't just naturally appear out of a combined love for both sacred fruits. I guess it's a case of the most common denominator deciding the components of this duality of man that is Plain Mountain Dew and Nacho Cheese Doritos? But if you know about Era's Dorito Lore, you know that Nacho Cheese isn't even that universal, just a slight majority choice. These flavors are supremely "okay" for their respective snack, but I feel like swapping out the flavors here for most anything else would be an automatic upgrade. For reference, we're talking OG Mountain Dew, and Nacho Cheese Doritos. Like I don't quite get a Sweet and Salty kind of thing. Like these two snacks don't actually compliment eachother very well, right? Or am I nuts? Nothing independently about the taste of either makes me crave the other. ![]() Bad enough alone, but just toxic sludge when combined. ![]() Who's idea was it to eat these things together? It's boring, monotonous slop. Has Mountain Dew just changed the way its tasted 3 times within the last 4 or 5 years?Ģ. As I write this thread, I got myself a paper bowl of Doritos and a 12 oz can of Mountain Dew. Where did this trope come from? I think the last time I took part in the holy combo was E3 2015, maybe 2014, where I had snacks for each conference lined up based on the conference holder's country of origin, where the dewritos package was the snack for the American companies. Operation Dorito-fication America has been in high gear ever since the frenetic hype that came with the creation of Taco Bell’s Doritos Tacos Locos.įollowing its wild success, parent company PepsiCo announced that it had also struck a deal with US restaurant chain Buffalo Wild Wings that would see the development of Doritos-inspired dishes in which the chips were used as a crunchy topping for wings and chicken tenders. You were right stoners, Frito-Lay can hear your thoughts.” Or, as talk show host Stephen Colbert put it in in a segment on his Colbert Report this week: “Food scientists are now using undergrad lab rats to test a new Mountain Dew, Dorito-hybrid. “Like if you shoved a handful of doritos in your mouth and chugged some dew at the same time,” wrote Steve Barnes.Īn official statement from PepsiCo revealed that the company is testing out the “Doritos-inspired flavour” at college campuses across the U.S. In what the internet has been calling the ongoing ‘Dorito-fication’ of America, and America: Doritofied, PepsiCo has bottled the nacho cheese flavours of Doritos and liquefied it into a bright, orange-hued and orange-tinged fizzy drink.Īccording to one Reddit user, who first brought PepsiCo’s hybrid Franken-drink to the cyber world’s attention: “It honestly wasn’t that disgusting.” What was first dismissed as a hoax has been confirmed to be the real thing: Mountain Dew has found a way to turn nacho cheese-flavoured Doritos into a fizzy, liquid drink. ![]()
